Footwear designer John Geiger has a few original silhouettes under his belt already but his latest work is perhaps Geiger’s most approachable design to date. A low-cut sneaker with the customary top-shelf construction, the GF-01 is making its debut with lush materials and thoughtful touches, like a custom outsole.
To all those citing the sneaker’s similarity to Nike‘s Air Force 1, Geiger’s “favorite” response has been, “That’s the point.” Making no bones about his intention to create an homage to the iconic hoop sneaker, Geiger has even accented his design with a “GF-01” hit on the white midsole — one referential nod among many others.
There are plentiful elements exclusive to Geiger’s creation, however, including the lush off-white pebbled leather that gives this debut colorway its name and the iridescent “G” logo that loops around both sides of the sneaker. Black and white laces lend further visual punch while the aforementioned “JG” outsole drives the distinction home.
Shop the GF-01 when it debuts at 12 p.m. EST on John Geiger’s web store, retailing for $190 USD.
